Advanced Biofuels USA appoints Chris Tindal to Board of Directors
Advanced Biofuels USA has made a new appointment to its board of directors.
Chris Tindal, former director for Operational Energy working for the deputy assistant secretary for the Navy for Energy, has joined the nonprofit’s board.
Frederick, Maryland based Advanced Biofuels USA is an educational organisation dedicated to the understanding, development and use of advanced biofuels.
"Chris not only brings extraordinary experiences from his work with the US Navy, setting energy policy and promoting the adoption of alternative fuels and renewable energy resources," explained President and Executive Director, Joanne Ivancic.
"He's also a thoughtful and generous individual. He will be an asset to the organization in many ways."
Tindal became director for Operational Energy working for the deputy assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy in 2008. While in the role he was in charge of setting energy policy and direction for the Department of the Navy and promoting the adoption of alternative fuels and renewable energy resources. This included leading the Green Fleet effort, overseeing the planning and logistics, and discussing interoperability concerns with alternative fuel use by the US Navy with many countries.
"Chris has been in the thick of all things biofuels over the past ten years and more, particularly as the Navy leader of the pioneering US Department of Agriculture/ US Department of Energy/ US Navy Alternative Fuels Initiative which developed programs to launch the advanced biofuels industry,” Ivancic continued.
“In doing so, he has developed intergovernmental, international, and industry relationships throughout the energy field and will have well-honed insights to share as Advanced Biofuels USA moves into its 10th year."
Tindal currently teaches as an Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Tropical Crops and Biocommodities at Queensland University of Technology. A prominent figure in the biofuels sector, he has twice been named in the Top 100 People in the Bioeconomy Awards by Biofuels Digest – in both 2013 and 2017.
