Sami Faour, global technical director at BetaTec speaks to Biofuels International about the company’s involvement in the alternative fuels’ sector
Can you introduce yourself to our readers and provide us with a brief history about BetaTec?
I'm the global technical director for BetaTec. I lead the global innovation team and oversee collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure coordination and execution of innovation projects. I play an active role in hops research and product application, applying more than 20 years of experience in various industries to optimize the development, integration, and launch of new innovative products. BetaTec Hop Products was established in 1997 and is a division of John I Haas Inc, itself part of the BarthHaas Group, a large vertically integrated company, growing, processing, and trading hops and hop products worldwide.
The antimicrobial properties of hop acids against gram-positive bacteria have been known and used in the brewing industry for more than a millennium. BetaTec's hop acids have been used successfully in dry and wet mill ethanol plants since 2004 to inhibit the growth of lactic acid bacteria...
