Sarah Wilkin

CEO, Fly Green Alliance
Sarah Wilkin is founder & CEO of FGA, a Booking.com grantee in 2018 when herself and Professor Shiju Raveendran at University of Amsterdam, chemical engineer and catalyst specialist, gained a sustainable travel grant to work on the R&D of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) which was a milestone for SAF awareness, being the first time the tech had been given attention outside of the aviation industry. Previously she worked in digital, advertising and market research before switching careers in 2018, and brought this knowledge to sustainable aviation developments to push innovation and carbon reduction in the area as well as bring a new perspective. Sarah went on to introduce and pioneer the concept of turning SAF into a credit/unit in 2019 for access for and cost sharing with the business travel sector, gaining approval from global certification body Gold Standard, which has lead to other mechanisms being developed by industry SAF leaders as well as the Book & Claim approach. She also supported Amex Global Business Travel on their SAF strategy and Formula E and provided other businesses leading edge opportunities in SAF. Sarah is now developing work across multiple sectors to speed up the acceleration of net zero in travel through consultancy, education, and development of new business models. This was a judge on the Business Travel Sustainability Awards, they created a documentary called the Golden Bullet and have now launched in their new community and B2B support for ESG professionals called “In the loop”.
