Greenbelt Resources expands facility to increase ethanol revenue

Waste to bioproducts producer Greenbelt Resources has opened a new assembly, fabrication and manufacturing facility to increase revenue from both equipment manufacturing and ethanol production.

The company, which is currently converting its facility from biofuel to bioethanol solvent, made the expansion decision following a strong second quarter and in response to contracted sales in both business segments.

Greenbelt is now able to accommodate workflow on more projects simultaneously, with the new facility adding over 3,000 square feet of floor space, a 1,000 square foot exterior final assembly pad, and a range of fabrication, welding and other metal work and wiring equipment.

The new facility includes everything required to manufacture and assemble complete system modules, such as Greenbelt’s proprietary membrane dehydration modules and the distillation tower modules central to each ECOsystem. The ECOsystem converts food supply chain waste into revenue-generating bioproducts.

Commenting on the expansion, Greenbelt’s chief technology officer Floyd Butterfield said: “In order to meet the growing demand for our technology, we needed to expand our manufacturing capabilities.”

In July 2019, Greenbelt announced a partnership with New Age Renewable Energy (NARE) to jointly provide a solution for dairy processors to address the unique challenges presented by dairy process industry wastes, such as acid whey, whey permeate and other milk derivatives.

The first sale from this joint venture has been announced, with the system currently being manufactured in Greenbelt’s new facility.
