Production date draws close for Clean Burn Fuels

In Dundarrach, North Carolina, US, the $100 million (€75 million) Hoke Country ethanol plant is due to start producing its first batch of ethanol on Saturday 1 May.

Ethanol producer Clean Burn Fuels’ plant, which was originally expected to begin production in January this year, faced various construction delays. Rescheduled for April, production had to be set back again due to the bad weather affecting the build of the facility.

Officials are now hoping to complete the safety tests before the grinding of corn commences.
‘I'm getting safety policies put together,’ said HR manager Dave Walters. ‘Employees are being trained in the ethanol process. Pretty much everyone is getting ready to ramp up.’
Production will begin slowly before gaining pace throughout the next few years. When production increases around 100 people are expected to be employed by the plant.

The total number of employees now working at the refinery has already increased to around 40, with approximately 90% of these local residents.
