Brazil’s transport volume of biodiesel increased

According to Revista Cultivar, Brazil’s railroad operator, Rumo Logística has increased the transported volume of biodiesel B100 by 74% last year.

The fuel used by Brazil’s distributors is loaded at terminals in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and is sent to the markets of Paraná and São Paulo.

Rumo Logística has moved 172,000 mᶾ in 2018 compared to 2017’s 99,000 mᶾ. The increase in volume transported is the result of the relationship of the concessionaire with its customers, as well as the increase in consumption of the product, states to Revista Cultivar.

Revista Cultivar reports that The Ministry of Mines and Energy estimates that national biodiesel production will increase from 5.4 to over 10 billion litres per year by 2023. This would raise domestic biodiesel demand by 85%.
