Ajay Kumar

Mr. Ajay Kumar, is Senior Vice President & Chief of Powertrain System Development at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL), a market leading automobile maker of India for past 4 decades. A Mechanical Engineering Graduate from premier institute of India, Ajay has worked with Automobile industry for over 2 decades years now. He has deep understanding of Performance & Emissions development of Engines using Biofuels. He has 16 patents to his name and authored several Technical papers in India & International forums in areas of Biofuels and their benefits for Indian transport sector. Ajay is currently leading Powertrain Development of Gasoline & CNG engines in MSIL. He has been working in developing R&D capability in Engine Performance Development, Calibration & Vehicle Integration areas. He has witnessed many emissions regulation leaps in India and has been instrumental in development of Phase 1 to Phase 6 emission norms compliant powertrains at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd He is an active member and leader for various Alternative Fuel related Activities for Indian Automobile Association and actively participates in National regulation development for Emissions and Fuel consumption. At present he is engaged in building strategic road map for increasing demand for Biofuels in India’s Transport sector and is active member of panel providing vital inputs to Govt of India, for making NET ZERO road map of Indian Transport sector with all clean energy pathways. In his free time, he engages in mentoring young engineers and participates in Half marathons and developing his skills in badminton sport.
