Court approves $1.5m REG equipment purchase deal

REG Synthetic Fuels (REG-SF), a Renewable Energy Group subsidiary, has received approval from a Mississippi court to purchase equipment at the KiOR Columbus production facility.

Under the approved asset purchase agreement, REG-SF paid $1.5 million (€1.3 million) and some expenses related to equipment preparation to acquire various physical assets at the Columbus, Mississippi, plant, including a 12-million gallon hydrotreating unit, distillation column, and tankage.

Brad Albin, vice president of manufacturing at REG Synthetic Fuels, says the company was able to purchase quality assets for a good value.

‘We plan to re-locate and utilise the equipment for future advanced biofuel or renewable chemical projects,’ says Albin.
