RSB responds to EBB resignation

The European Biodiesel Board (EBB) and the European Bioethanol Fuel Associations (eBIO) have withdrawn from the Roundtable of Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) following claims that the RSB works with ‘obscure consultants’ and ‘ambiguous organisations.’

In response to EBB's letter of resignation, RSB's executive secretary Alwin Kopse urges EBB to ‘identify such organisations for the good of all other RSB stakeholders.’

Kopse continued: ‘The RSB has always depended on the input and assistance of a variety of organisations to develop and finalise the RSB Standards. We are very proud to work with excellent, and in many cases world renown, specialised organisations and experts, be it as members or external consultants. As an association member of USEAL, and an organisation that emphasises the importance of open processes, we have always been very transparent about whom we work with, The RSB Secretariat will certainly do its utmost to keep the standards of collaboration and transparency high.'

He concluded by welcoming the EBB and eBIO back into the RSB when ‘the priorities of the three organisations coincide again.’

'We regret that these associations chose to leave this multi-stakeholder initiative and thank them for their contribution.’
