Bunge announces retirement of CFO

Bunge, a global agribusiness, has announced that its chief financial officer (CFO), Drew Burke, is retiring at the end of the year.

The company plans to name a successor before the end of the year, and is conducting a search that will consider both internal and external candidates.

"For the past 14 years and in several roles, Drew has made great contributions to Bunge's growth and success," said Soren Schroder, CEO, Bunge.

Schroder added: "As CFO, he has helped create shareholder value by driving efficient portfolio management, financial discipline and prudent allocation of capital. His financial expertise, deep knowledge of the business and strong leadership have made him a highly valued advisor and member of our team. We wish him all the best in his retirement."

Burke said:  "I'm proud of what we've accomplished as a team at Bunge over the past 14 years. This was a difficult personal decision for me, as it's an exciting time for the company.

“I'll be staying on until the end of the year to assure a smooth transition, and am confident that with the strategic plan and talented team we have, Bunge will capitalize on excellent growth opportunities ahead."

Burke was named CFO in February 2011, having served as interim CFO since September 2010. He joined Bunge in 2002 as MD, Soy Ingredients and New Business Development. Previously, he was CEO of the US subsidiary of Degussa AG and worked for Beecham Pharmaceuticals and Price Waterhouse & Company.
